Who can participate?

Children, teens and adults will be able to participate this year! Everyone will need to have their own library card. (See Membership FAQs)

Everyone will read books from the library and/or e-books through Camellia Net, Hoopla, and Tumblebooks (young kids) to meet their reading goals.

How do we sign up?

Registration for children and teens will be completely digital. A link to the registration page and instructions is available May 15th. Parents/guardians will have the option to create a single account to manage their children’s and teens’ registration and reading logs. A library computer will be available to register and log books for those who do not have internet access at home.

Click here for JPL's Read Squared site to sign up children and teens for the Summer Reading Program.
Need help with registration? Check out this brief instructional video or call the library at 256-435-6332.

Adults will sign up on June 1st or after. Their physical BINGO card should be completed by July 10th. There is no ReadSquared for adults.

How do we log books?

Information packets with SRP guidelines, logging instructions and an activity calendar should be picked up at the library to complete registration and begin the program on June 1st or after. Books read before June 1st will not count for SRP and must not be logged.

There is a limit to the number of books/pages that can be logged in a single day. Children ages 0-7 will be able to log a maximum of 2 books per day, children ages 8-12 will be able to log a maximum of 100 pages per day, and teens will be able to log a maximum of 200 pages per day.
Need help logging books? Click here to watch a brief instructional video or call the library at 256-435-6332 for more assistance.

What about events?

Many of the programs and activities will be digital including virtual storytimes, craft programs and Fantastic Friday Programs! Sign up for the Summer Reading Program to get the links to watch and for information on picking up craft craft kits at the library.
In-person, outdoor events that are fun for the whole family will allow for social distancing. Details will be announced as soon as possible.
